ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Office of the Special Public Defender is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Investigator I/II-Public Defender position. As a member of our defense team, the Investigator will perform legal and field investigative work in support of attorneys representing clients in criminal matters. The ideal candidate will be responsible for locating and interviewing witnesses, gathering and analyzing records and evidence, identifying investigative leads, conducting independent investigations, serving subpoenas and court documents, preparing detailed reports, and testifying in court as needed. The Investigator will work closely with attorneys and other defense team members and report to supervisory investigative staff within the Office of the Special Public Defender.

Investigator I (Public Defender): $28.15 - 41.52 Hourly
Investigator II (Public Defender): $30.38 - 44.84 Hourly
The Investigator I (Public Defender) is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to InvestigatorII (Public Defender).

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Investigator I (Public Defender) - Equivalent to an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Science, Social Work or related field AND two (2) years of full-time experience in performing investigations or in sworn law enforcement duties.

Investigator II (Public Defender) - In addition to the above, one (1) year of full-time experience in performing criminal investigations in a public agency.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
