DescriptionSummer Camp Adventure Awaits at its Camp Kinetic Program!Join us and become an integral part of our team!The Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo is currently looking for a Summer Camp Lead Instructor to direct its physics and chemistry camp known as Camp Kinetic.
Camp Logistics
- Location: Rinconada Girl Scout House (right next to the Junior Museum)
- Dates: July 20 - August 7
- Camp Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
- Staff work hours: approx. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday
- Camper ages: 6 - 12 years old
- Capacity: Up to 16 students per week
- The Summer Camp Lead Instructor is the lead teacher and site director for the camp. Support staff include an Assistant Teacher, a Camp Counselor, and 1-2 teen interns known as Science Camp Assistants.
Duties
The Lead Instructor will develop a thorough knowledge of the curriculum and background content for projects exploring physics, chemistry, engineering and design. With support staff, organize and share in the presentation of science content and projects. Assume responsibility for the successful facilitation of activities and daily routines, camper safety and well-being, communication with parents, and duties of support staff.
Desired Qualifications:
The successful applicant will be a college graduate in one of the sciences, or in education, and have at least 2 years of experience working with children in an educational setting.
NOTE: This position will start July 1, 2026. The Junior Museum & Zoo has been providing quality science exhibits and programs in the community since 1936 and we have a reputation for offering high quality learning experiences for children. This is a great opportunity for a school science teacher wishing to work during the summer while school is not in session.
