The Colusa County Sheriff's Office is a secure and professional correctional facility that is dedicated to maintaining the safety and security of our community. IMPORTANT
If you have taken the written exam within the last twelve months and wish to transfer your T-Score received from the exam in lieu of re-taking the exam, you must ATTACH verification of your T-Score to your online application . Documentation must include the following information : date of exam, title of exam, T-Score received, and must be on agency letterhead.

Supervision & Examples of Duties

Receives general supervision from sworn supervisory staff.

Qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience :
No experience is required.

Training :
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.

License or Certificate
Possession of or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid driver’s license.

Ability to work irregular hours, holidays, and weekends.

Current enrollment or successful completion of the Correctional Officer Core Course (preferred but not required).

Possession of or ability to obtain Penal Code 832 Certificate.

Supplemental Information

The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
