The Landscape Project Manager will service areas comprised of Denton County properties, to include flower beds, turf areas, sidewalks, stairs, patios, landings, drives, fields and lots. This position will be responsible for providing landscape maintenance, care, design and other associated services. This position serves in the capacity that will demonstrate multifaceted and high skill levels in the area of landscaping. The Landscape Project Manager works with much latitude to fulfill the ultimate goal of helping to create an exterior Denton County environment that promotes safety, health and embraces the Denton County beautification initiate for all county properties.

Examples of Duties

Manages grounds maintenance contractual services for Denton County. Oversees all Contractors to make sure they are fulfilling the specifications of the contract and that services are being on delivered on schedule. Monitors work quality and progress of work provided by contractors. Inspect all grounds and areas and report findings; Work with vendor and/or the Director of Public Facilities to resolve issues as they arise.

Oversees general upkeep and care of Denton County grounds including lawns, trees, shrubs, beds, etc.; Ensures proactive activities that prevent plant damage or diseases.

Communicates on a daily basis with Contractors, Elected Officials/Department Heads, Architects, and the Director of Public Works.

Helps prepare the specifications for the contracts and participates in the bid process; completes the quarterly review surveys for Purchasing.

Meets with Architects, Elected Officials, Departments Heads, and the Director of Public Works about future landscape design on new buildings. Uses expertise and knowledge to give input on the layout and design.

Attends regular training to keep up to date on the best horticultural practices, including knowledge of plant material, soil types, irrigation systems, pest control and landscape construction methods.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree in horticulture, arboriculture, landscape architect, agriculture or related field and a minimum of seven years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Job requires extensive knowledge and understanding of plant material, soil types, irrigation systems, pest control, and landscape management.

Possession of a valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver’s license within 90 days of employment.

Must be able to pass a State Criminal History background check.
