A Transportation Development Engineering Manager job is available with The City of Fort Worth Development Services Department, Infrastructure Division. This position leads the Transportation Development team. The Transportation Development team reviews various development applications for compliance with the Transportation Engineering Manual, Access Management Policy, Master Thoroughfare Plan, and other transportation criteria & ordinances.
- The position is full-time and located at City Hall.
- After just six (6) months, enjoy the freedom of two (2) days of remote work each week (subject to department approval and based on business needs)
- Depending on the unique design and construction issues, there may be occasional site visits.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible transportation engineering experience, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility
- Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment
- Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications: - Highly conversant with transportation engineering and general civil engineering fundamental principles & practices
- Extensive Knowledge of transportation design manuals, including ITE Trip Generation manual, MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, PROWAG, and other geometric roadway design manuals
- Eight (8) or more years of work experience in local government initiatives or projects, either as a public sector employee or private consultant, including project management experience (scoping, budgets, schedules, and contract administration)
- Ability to efficiently distill highly complex processes and technical matters into effective communications and actionable plans
- Demonstrated success in evaluating and streamlining processes to optimize service delivery and resource allocation
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification
- Proficiency with Synchro, SIDRA, and other traffic modeling software
The Transportation Development Engineering Manager job responsibilities include: - Interpret and apply the City's Transportation Engineering Manual, Access Management Policy, subdivision ordinance, and other City requirements to a wide range of development projects and unique design scenarios
- Review Traffic Impact Analysis submittals for new development projects and provide rough proportionality assessments of all qualifying developments
- Review of various transportation-related waiver requests
- Provide technical guidance and leadership related to transportation engineering, streetlights, traffic safety, signage, and pavement markings
- Prepare, update, and implement standard operating procedures. Monitor budgets and performance metrics and implement process improvements
- Coordinate on a variety of issues with management and executive staff, external agencies, residents, developers, and developer consultants
- Maintain close coordination and collaboration with various divisions within the Development Services Department and the Transportation & Public Works Department
