The County of Nevada, located in the scenic Sierra foothills, is seeking to hire a licensed Quality Assurance Therapist in the Behavioral Health Department.
Examples of DutiesOur Quality Assurance Behavioral Health Therapist provides the following support to colleagues and providers within the Behavioral Health department and community:
- Supports and provides specific documentation and QA-focused trainings to both internal and external providers. Provides guidance, support, and feedback on areas of quality assurance and improvement practices.
- Provides and supports the clinical and administrative oversight of the QA initiatives and requirements, including providing technical assistance and feedback to staff across all program areas.
- Supports the QA Manager in interpreting new guidance and developing and implementing policy and procedure related to said guidance.
- Serves as significant project contributor and project lead, as needed, for diverse quality improvement projects.
- Supports the Quality Assurance Program and the Quality Assurance Manager through well-developed knowledge base of Medi-Cal SMHS, DMC-ODS programs, and community mental health programs (both adult and children’s services).
- Performs internal and external audits and program reviews.
- Has provided Psychotherapy and is aware of billable versus non-billable elements of psychotherapeutic services. Has screened potential clients over telephonic or virtual methods in prior work.
- Has completed assessments, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, collateral/parent counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and documentation of services in prior positions, especially in Medi-Cal billing agencies.
- This role acts in a supervisory capacity and may be assigned direct reports.

Knowledge and Skills RequiredA bilingual Spanish skill would be an asset in this position but is not required. Applicants for English/Spanish bilingual designation must take and pass a Spanish bilingual proficiency examination.
Education and Experience RequiredA Master's degree from an accredited college or university, or from a school, college, or university that is approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences, or meeting the educational requirement of 48 semester/trimester or 72 quarter units of master's level coursework to accrue hours for Supervised Professional Experience (SPE), per the Board of Psychology AND p ossession of California License with one year of clinical experience in a community mental health program.
In addition to the above education, the following are also required:
Licenses and Certificates
All levels : Possession of a valid California driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Behavioral Health Therapist - Licensed :
Pursuant to Section 5600 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, must possess a valid California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker; Marriage, Family Therapist; or Psychologist (with an earned doctorate degree in psychology, educational psychology, education with a field of specialization in counseling psychology or education with a field of specialization in educational psychology); or, pursuant to Section 4999.20(a)(3)(A) of the Business and Professions Code, must possess a valid California license as a Professional Clinical Counselor.
