Information Technology Department. THE POSITION
This flexibly staffed class series specification describes the lead level classification in the Application Systems Engineer series. Under direction, to provide thought leadership and operational support for the County’s information systems, architect business solutions, and serve as a liaison between department/agency representatives and third-party service providers. Application Systems Engineer III’s are responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, implementing, and maintaining software, including enterprise-class, and multi-tier systems; and perform related duties as required.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess excellent technical knowledge and skills; and demonstrate a high-level of ability to communicate, make decisions, work collaboratively, organize and plan, and prioritize the customer/client experience.
VACANCIES
The Information Technology Department is filling multiple Application Services Engineer III positions within several units under Engineering, Systems Analysis, Business Analysis and Quality Assurance career tracks. Under direction, Application Systems Engineers provide support for the County’s information systems. Application Systems Engineer IIIs are responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, implementing, and maintaining software, including enterprise class, multi-tier systems; and perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education : Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
AND Experience : The equivalent of four (4) years full-time experience designing, developing, analyzing, supporting, and implementing complex software systems.
Substitution: Three (3) additional years of full-time experience designing, developing, analyzing, supporting, and implementing complex software systems may be substituted for the education requirement.
NOTE : The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.

- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Provide technical support to customers, users, and team members.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, internal support units, customers, and vendors.
- Assess and evaluate new technology solutions to address business needs.
- Provide input and make recommendations to leadership teams in regard to the long-term vision of the organization.
- Prioritize, evaluate, and mentor the work of subordinate personnel.
EXAMINATION COMPONENTSThe examination will consist of the following steps:
A review of applicants' application to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process. A review of the supplemental questionnaire to determine the best qualified. Those candidates considered the best qualified will move on to the final step in the examination process. This is a pass/fail exam component. An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidates' final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises
